CHAPTER 14
Shermi gets permission
Jaidev and Chandru were sitting in the
hall. Madhavi brought fruit juice for them.
Jaidev took the glass and said, “Madhavi, you too sit
down. The engagement date is coming near. What arrangements have you done?”
Chandru said, “I have gone to Ramathirtha and made all
arrangement for 20th. I have also given advance to the cook. I have
invited 200 people.”
Jaidev was very happy. “Very good. Only 4 days left.
Day after tomorrow, Deepak’s sister and brother-in-law will arrive from US.
They will come directly to Ramathirtha with Deepak with Deepak at 3 pm on the
21st.”
Madhavi nodded. “Yes. They phoned to us also from
America. I have already noted what all food they like. But they too want
everything to be simple.”
Jaidev said, “Didn’t I tell you? They may be rich but
they are very simple. You must look after everything by yourself. I will send
some of my men to help you. I have government road tenders on that day. You
don’t wait for me. You start the function. I will try my best to reach at 5 pm.”
Madhavi was shocked. “But you must be there for the
engagement.”
Jaidev said sadly, “Yes. I cannot help it. On that
day, I have 50crores tender. It will be over at 4pm. I will reach there at 5
pm. Everyone will be there to help you. Don’t worry.”
Suddenly, Shermi entered the hall. She smiled at her
uncle and sat near him.
Shermi asked, “How are you, uncle?”
Jaidev smiled at her. “I am fine. But look at your
face. It is shining with the excitement of the marriage. You liked the boy
didn’t you?”
Shermi was shy.
Jaidev said, “Tell me, dear.”
She nodded her head. Madhavi was surprised to see
this. She thought, “I can’t understand her. Now she seems to be very happy with
everything.”
Jaidev said, “Your husband-to-be is a big millionaire.
You have hit a jackpot.”
Shermi said, “You see only hi-tech match because you
yourself are hi-tech. If you look for a boy, you are sure to see nothing less
then a jackpot.”
Jaidev laughed. “He is a very nice gentleman.
Everything will be in your hand. He is a very mild person. You will live like a
queen.”
He turned to look at Madhavi. “Madhavi, I am leaving
now.”
Shermi said, “Uncle, one small request.”
Jaidev was just getting up to go. Hearing Shermi’s
request, he turned to her.
“Ah! Tell me, dear. You want something?”
Madhavi was anxious as to what her daughter was going
to say.
Shermi said, “Uncle, till my marriage, I would like to
continue to attend my computer classes. Tell mommy to allow me to go.”
Jaidev was surprised. He laughed. “Is that all? Madhavi,
let her went. After marriage, let Deepak decide everything.”
Jaidev went out.
Security guards become alert. Jaidev sat in the car.
The car moved. Naidu’s jeep followed.
Shermi looked towards Avinash’s window.
Avinash was watching. She smiled. Avinash too smiled.
