CHAPTER 23
Shermi sees the real face of Avinash
At that time, inspector came in and saluted
to the commissioner. “Sir, Naik is here.”
“Ah. Ask him to come in.”
Naik entered and saluted to the commissioner.
“Operation successful, Sir.”
Commissioner said, “Very good. So you have caught the
killer.”
Naik said, “We caught him right at the operation spot.
Jaidev has gone to the function safely and does not know anything.”
Commissioner got excited. “Where is that killer?”
Naik went to the door. “Bring that fellow in.”
Constables brought in the killer, who had his hands
tied behind his back. They made him stood in front of the commissioner.
Commissioner said, “Bastard, you have killed 33
innocent people. You are a blood sucker. We should have killed you in an
encounter.”
Naik said, “Sir, he would have been my 101st
encounter, but……..”
Killer looked at Naik seriously.
Naik said angily, “Eh! Why are you staring at me? I
will apply 3rd degree on you and count your bones.”
Killer continued to stare at Naik. “Your 3rd
degree or 4th degree will not affect me in any way.”
Hearing the voice, Shermi was shocked. She raised her
head and looked up. She thought, “My lover, my heartbeat.”
Naik got very angry. He folded his fingers into a fist
and hit the killer. “Bastard. If I had
made up my mind to make you my 101st encounter, your body would have
been in pieces.”
Shermi was shocked to see all this.
Naik said, “Sir, he has killed 33 men innocently. He is
a professional killer. This is his daily bread. He drinks blood. No education,
no morality. 10 years ago, he was selling black tickets outside Bombay
theaters. Then he started pick pocketing. After that he joined the rowdy gang.
Finally, as a promotion, he became a professional killer.”
Shermi’s legs started shaking. She started sweating
and feeling faint. She clutched the nearby chair to save herself from falling
down. Her parents were no longer looking at her. They were keenly watching the
drama going on.
Naik said, “He was following Jaidev to kill him. I
knew that he will be in the forest area waiting for him. I caught him right
there, where he was standing, holding the gun at blank point.”
Commissioner said happily, “Very good. Put him in the
lock up.”
Naik said seriously, “Sir, don’t make him appear in
the court for one week. Let him be in my control. I will show him stars not in
3rd degree, but in 4th degree. They are culprits of the
nation.”
Killer became serious. “Eh! Mr. Naik. You don’t know
the reality. Don must have already have come to know of my arrest. Even 10th
degree will not do anything to me. In half an hour, a phone will come from the
Home Minister, just see.”
Shermi removed the burka cover from her face and approached
her mother. The killer saw her and was shocked. He looked at her with love.
Then he looked at the suitcases.
Shermi spat at him with disgust. Then she turned to
her mother. “Mommy, please forgive me. I am now ready to marry that boy. Let us
went to the engagement.”
Madhavi was surprised. But at the same time she was
very happy. “I just cannot understand your moods. Anyway, come. Let us go

The constables took the killer away.
