CHAPTER 36
Deepak has good news
Deepak’s car came and stopped in front of
the house. Shermi came slowly and stood near the gate. Driver Raju and the
workers brought the bags from the car into the house.
Deepak got down from the car and looked at Shermi’s
face. He patted her cheek.
“How are you?”
“I am fine.”
There was no energy in her voice. Deepak was
surprised. “What happened? Are you not feeling well?”
“I am fine.”
He held her and took her into the house. They went
into the bedroom. The workers brought in the suitcases and went away. Shermi removed a bottle of water from the
fridge and gave it to him.
Deepak took the bottle and looked into her eyes. “I
think you are not well.”
He drank the water. Then he sat on the bed and opened
the suitcases. It was full of beautiful dresses and ornaments. He removed them
one by one and put them on her body. “Ah! This is so beautiful. See this.. and
this…”
But Shermi remained silent. Deepak looked at her face.
“I am noting that ever since I came you are not showing interest in anything.
What is wrong with you? Tell me.”
Shermi said, “Really, I am fine. A bit tired that’s
all.”
Deepak said, “Let us went to the doctor. Come.”
“No. I am fine. I need rest. I will be ok soon.”
Suddenly her cell rang. She was shocked. She picked it
up with fear. Yes. It was his number. She went a bit away from Deepak.
Avinash was sitting in a car a bit away from her
house. “Your husband is home, isn’t it?”
Shermi was silent.
Avinash said, “I am talking to you only.”
Shermi still did not say anything.
Avinash said, “What? You have lost your speech or
what? Eh! I can kill your husband in one second. I am a killer, remember. But I
want to give him a natural death. Then only we can have full benefit. From
tomorrow, you must go according to my plan. I will tell you the details
tomorrow.”
Shermi’s throat went dry with fear. Deepak was
watching from far. She switched off her cell.
Deepak asked, “Who was it? You did not say anything.”
Shermi said, “Wrong number.”
Shermi was full of fear. She approached Deepak. He
pinched her cheek.
“I have good news for you. That is the best gift of
all.”
Shermi looked at him in surprise. Deepak opened
another suitcase and took out a file. “Shermi, look at this file. It contains
report from the doctor. My operation was successful. I am now 100% fit.”
Shermi took the file from him and went through it. She
embraced him happily.
“Thank you Deepak. I love you.”
Deepak said, “I have to take rest for 15 to 20 days,
that’s all. Then we can live like everyone. I am now a complete man.”
Shermi hugged him tightly. Tears rolled down her face.
Deepak was shocked. “Shermi, why are you crying?”
Shermi said, “I am not crying due to sadness. I am very
happy. Deepak, please do not leave me and go anywhere again.”
Deepak said, “I will not go anywhere without you. I
will take you with me where ever I go.”
Shermi thought, “I
made a mistake. I left my golden husband and touched the serpent. Oh! Such problems.
What shall I do?”
She hugged him with tears in her eyes.
